“Rented this van with my wife, 3 year old, and 6 month old for a 4 day camping weekend. Dimitrios was a pleasure to work with. The van was extremely clean and very well equipped. We added the adventure package and linens, and everything was practically or actually brand new. The fire pit was especially appreciated. My wife and I slept in the pop up tent and the kids on the Murphy bed downstairs. Worked great. Strongly recommended!”

Everything you
want to know
before you book.

First-time van renter? Experienced camper with specific questions? Everything below comes from real questions guests have asked. If yours isn’t here, message us through your booking platform.

The van · Driving & logistics
Is it hard to drive? I’ve never driven anything this big.
Not at all — the Winnebago Solis is 20 feet long and drives like a large SUV. Automatic transmission, backup camera, and parking sensors. Most guests are comfortable within the first 20 minutes. We provide a full walkthrough video before your trip and a comprehensive welcome guide so you arrive confident.
How does pickup and dropoff work?
We’re based in Danville, CA — easy off I-680. We do a full in-person walkthrough at pickup covering all systems and your chosen Mode gear. Dimitris is flexible on timing. On the last day, please rinse dishes and leave them in the sink — no soap needed, everything goes in the dishwasher. Return at the same fuel level, remove your trash, and do a quick surface wipe. That’s it.
Is there a mileage limit?
Yes — 100 miles per day on Outdoorsy, 100 miles per night on RVshare. Additional miles at $0.65/mile. For most California destinations — Yosemite, Tahoe, Big Sur, Mendocino — a standard trip falls well within the included miles. Message us before booking if you’re planning an extended route.
Can I take it off-road or to festivals?
Off-roading and festival use are not permitted. Unpaved forest roads and gravel campground access roads are perfectly fine. If you’re unsure about a specific route, just ask.
What’s the fuel situation?
Regular unleaded gasoline, 24-gallon tank. Plan for roughly 18–22 MPG depending on terrain and load. Return the tank at the same level. Propane for the fire pit and the 1lb LP canister for the outdoor stove are included with the Camp, Beach, and Couples Modes — no need to source your own.
Sleeping · Comfort
How does it sleep 4? Who fits where?
The queen Murphy bed folds down from the rear wall — perfect for two adults. The pop-top loft opens above the cab with its own mattress. Adults over 6’2″ may actually prefer the pop-top — more length and a bit more headroom than you’d expect. A self-inflating mattress topper is available for the pop-top upon request, free of charge. Bedding and linens are included for all sleeping areas.
We’re traveling with an infant. Is that feasible?
Yes — it’s been done. One family rented with a 3-year-old and 6-month-old for a 4-day trip. The parents slept in the pop-top loft; the baby’s pack-and-play was placed on the Murphy bed with the toddler beside it. Their words: “Worked great.” The van has 4 seatbelts for car seat installation.
Modes · Add-ons
How do Modes work exactly?
Modes are themed gear bundles added to your rental. Choose one — Camp, Adventure, Beach, or Couples — and we pre-load everything before you arrive. Organized, cleaned, and ready. You don’t need to bring anything extra for your chosen experience. Add-ons like the hitch cargo basket can be layered on top of any Mode.
Can I bring my own bikes without the Adventure Mode?
Yes — you can bring your own bike rack. If you’d like to use our Kuat NV 2.0 swing-arm hitch rack, that’s available as a standalone add-on. Adventure Mode includes the rack plus 4 camp chairs, string lights, and espresso maker. You can also add a Kuat NV extension to Adventure Mode for a total of 4 bikes. Note: when the bike rack is installed, the hitch cargo basket is not available — they share the same mount.
What’s the hitch cargo basket for?
The hitch-mounted cargo basket is one of the most practical add-ons we offer. It mounts on the Kuat swing arm so rear doors stay fully accessible even when loaded. The entire Camp Mode kit — fire pit, table, chairs, rug — fits in the basket, leaving the van’s interior garage completely free for your personal gear. Available for all modes except Adventure ($49).
Policies · Good to know
Are pets allowed?
Pets are welcome by prior approval — non-shedding breeds preferred. $75 pet fee. Please message us before booking with your pet’s breed and size. We ask that pets stay off the Murphy bed and pop-top mattress.
Can I use it off-grid without hookups?
Absolutely — that’s what it’s built for. Roof solar keeps the battery topped up, running the 12V fridge/freezer, USB charging, lighting, and the 12V clip fan indefinitely in good sun. Fresh water tank, cassette toilet, and outdoor shower are all self-contained. For the toaster oven and air fryer, hookups are recommended.
What about the cassette toilet?
Simple and clean — the cassette slides out from outside the van and empties at any campground dump station. We include toilet liners (biodegradable bags) for guests who prefer not to use the cassette for solid waste at all. Full instructions in the welcome guide. There’s a $100 fee if the cassette is returned unemptied.
What’s the smoking policy?
No smoking or vaping inside or near the van — $300 cleaning fee for violations. This is a brand-new van and we’d like it to stay that way for every guest.
